Centenarian Celebrates 107th Birthday
Not only was 1908 the year the first Model T was produced and Cellophane was invented-it was also the year that Ms. Margaret (Ross) Connealy was born. On July 14, 1908 Margaret Ross was born at her grandmother’s home in Bancroft, Nebraska to Ura and Doll Ross. In 1938, Margaret married Louis Connealy; to this union were born three children- Ann, Ross and Brien. She also has seven grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Ms. Connealy earned her degree in education in 1932 from the Nebraska State Teacher College at Wayne (now Wayne State) and a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Nebraska Lincoln, teaching Latin and Drama in Rosalie, Nebraska. In the early 1930’s Margaret served as Principal in North Bend, Nebraska, then became the Director of Head Start in Lincoln, retiring in the 1980’s.
On July 14, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Ms. Connealy’s friends and family along with Attorney General Doug Peterson, City Council Members Carl Eskridge, and Jane Raybould celebrated the centenarian’s 107th birthday at Southlake Village Rehabilitation and Care Center.
